Clickbank – a good resource but difficult for new entrants
Hello,
Many of you will be using Clickbank I’m sure, and for anyone with an established business it is a great resource.
However, one thing that new entrants may not be aware of, and is seldom publicised is that it is difficult to get paid in the early days. For instance Clickbank require you get paid by no less than 5 different (different people that is!) credit card transactions before you get your first payment. As many people use Paypal (which doesn’t count) it can take a surprisingly long time before you get paid the first time. I’m sure they have their reasons but I would have thought a simple threshhold of earnings before payment would be enough but this way you can end up being owed hundreds of dollars before you get paid.
Another reason to consider PayDotCom as an option I think.
Good luck and success
Regards

Hi Dave, great post. I actually thought it was a payment threshold, didn’t realise it was an amount of people. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Thanks Mandy, I didn’t realise either until I started wondering why I wasn’t getting paid and found out hidden in the small print is the additional 5 credit card payments from different people. Pretty sneaky I think. Not impressed with Clickbank at all I’m afraid.
Best Wishes
Dave
Hi Dave, A very interesting post, I did not know that. I doesn’t seem fair at all. I will check out paydotcom.
Thank’s for that.
Best regards, Ray.
I thought I would put the relevant text below from the Clickbank terms, they say it is to prevent fraud but whether so or not it has a very unfortunate side effect in making it very difficult for newcomers to start to get paid at a time when they need to see some return on long hours of work:
‘Customer Distribution Requirement
ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until the following criteria is met:
* Sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers; and,
* Sales made with two different payment methods (either Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal). Note: PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.
This requirement is in place to help prevent Affiliates from abusing the ClickBank Affiliate program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of fraudulently collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own purchases.
Once you have met the Customer Distribution Requirement, your account will begin issuing payments normally, in accordance with our Accounting Policy, beginning on the next payment issuing date.’
Good luck

Hi Dave,
Do you know something i am learning new things about Clickbank all the time, and it seems like they use these systems to hold back your money to MAYBE make more interest themselves on it..
Food for thought..
Cheers Dave….Ed.

Hi Dave,
Now that was an enlightening post. I wasn’t aware of their policy either. It seems I should read the fine print better. Not many choices for us to turn to…so, Clickbank has us over a barrel!
Thanks for the heads up!
Kathy
Thanks for this short and informative post. I was thinking of joining CB but after reading this I think I’ll skip. Cheers
