Creating Your Own Website

Even if you mainly do affiliate marketing you will need a website of your own, if only to give yourself a brand and a place to host sales pages.

However if you are new to internet marketing it can be daunting to try to find out how to create your own website. It can take you weeks to find out even the basics required to create your website and then you see other websites and realise how much better they look than yours.

So, what is the solution? Well as with many other things you need to use a template. However there are many different types of template depending what you want from them. It is easy to get hold of simple web templates, often for free, that you can use as your website main page. However they will need at least a little editing to include your title and domain name and whatever words and images you want on the page.

There is however a simpler solution by using a more complex type of ready made website which includes an admin panel which enables you to edit the site easily without having to do any html editing. You will simply fill in text boxes with your title, words and other content.

A bonus with these types of site is that they can also include the facility to incorporate money making affiliate links, so not only will you have a web presence but you will also have a ready made means of earning some money form the website without much work from you.

With the right hosting company you can even avoid having to upload the website to your domain as the hosting company will do it for you.

Some of the best websites even come fully stocked with products to sell such as ebooks or software. These are ideal for newcomers to the world of online business and internet marketing.

If you are just starting out you need help otherwise you just spend all your time trying to learn, and not achieving much, so getting a ready made website to start you off is a no brainer.

If you do not wish directly sell from the website, you can get a ready made website with multiple affiliate product links which just means signing up to the affiliate networks, putting your affiliate numbers in the admin panel, picking a template and title and away you go.

  1. Hi I thought I would pop by your blog and say hello!

I am in John Thornhill’s Masterclass for this year and am enjoying it very much indeed. How did you find it last year?

If you need any help with Twitter just let me know as I am very active there and help a lot of people.

Hope to speak to you soon.

    All the best

  2. Hello Keith and thanks for popping by. The masterclass is very good and you’ll get some excellent help and advice. It really is a very comprehensive course. I’ve been snowed under with my main job for much of the last year so haven’t taken maximum advantage yet but a good thing about this is that all the resources, videos etc are with you to use whenever you need them. John also was kind enough to want everyone to make the most out of the course so I still have support if I need it.
One thing I would say is do make sure you create your own product during the course as John is quite correct in saying that is one of the most important things you can ever do in this business.
Good luck and when I get a bit more time I’ll be visiting the forum. Feel free any time to ask anything, if I don’t know I may know who best to ask though of course the best people are John and his friends, they’re all very good and friendly and helpful with it.

    Cheers

  3. Hi Dave,

Good post with some great info. Ready made sites are an option, also using a ghostwriter to get you started, or even to fill in when you haven’t the time yourself. They are very cost effective.

    Enjoy the journey.

You came up on top of my Masterclass Blogs list, so thought I’d have to stickybeak on a fellow Smith.

Love your site. Has given me lots of ideas. About your comment to Keith [One thing I would say is do make sure you create your own product during the course as John is quite correct in saying that is one of the most important things you can ever do in this business.]…

I have been struggling with trying to forge an online business since 2004, and I just got an idea tonight (am on Week 8 of the course where John says we have to come up with ideas). With nothing better to write about on my blog I’ve found myself talking about “anxiety” a lot, and I think that would be a good idea for a product. I should imagine there wouldn’t be a person alive who doesn’t suffer from it sometimes.

So, I thought I’d begin by asking people for their anxieties and how they cope with them. I would tell them I don’t have a product yet but that they will get feedback when I have collated enough information. I’ll ask on my blog and Facebook (and Twitter, though I’ve never used Twitter before).

Any suggestions (or anxieties!) gratefully received. Great to meet a fellow Smith with such a great site.

    Best wishes

    Paul

PS I am an Aussie living in Australia, but have lived in Britain and Germany (a long time ago).

Just added a post on this topic. If you have time to look and comment I’d appreciate it.

    Best wishes

  6. Hello Paul,
Sorry for the late reply, and yes I would think that anxiety would be a good base for a product, any health concerns are usually good subjects as everyone (well, except me ha ha) is concerned with their health these days.
Asking people about their experiences is a good idea, it involves them and means they will be more interested in the product later.
I’m not an expert with twitter (though I think Keith sounds like he may be worth asking about twitter) but I am using it, am building 3 twitter lists using automated tools (check out http://www.socialoomph.com/
allows you to select keywords and automatically add people to lists but a lot of other functions, even blog posts etc.
I’ll have a think about any anxiety experiences I’ve had and let you know so you can use if you want.
Its good to have an idea to develop and there will be many ways to develop the idea and I know other masterclass members will have thoughts about it.
    Good luck

    Regards

    Dave
